Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Friday, December 3, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the services. Matthew Novotny will officiate the service. The Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.

Open Visitation: Friends may call on Thursday, December 2, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Thursday evening, December 2, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield. 

Memorials: May be directed to the Letitia Harris memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Letitia Mae Morgan was born December 3, 1930, to Rosswell Elmer and Nellie Rhea (Potter)Morgan in Nevinville, Iowa. She passed away at November 17,2021 at Greenfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 90 years 11 months and 16 days.

Letitia lived near Nevinville until the age of 3 when her family moved north of Greenfield where she attended country school thru 8th grade and attended Greenfield High School.

On December 28,1946 she was united in marriage to Charles Edmund Harris Jr. in Hiawatha Kansas. They celebrated 72 years of marriage. Letitia and Charles had a very loving devoted bond. Six children were born to this union. Joni Grace, Lori Jane, Julia Ann, Dorothy Lorraine, Charles Edmund III, and John Leroy. They lived all their married life in Adair County farming for a number of years until retirement in 1990. Letitia loved her children with all of her heart. She would sew them clothes and prepared delicious meals for her family and farm hands. She always had a full table to feed and she enjoyed every minute of it! Letitia and Charles took in numerous other children that were in need of love and nurturing. They loved these children as their own! Candy Clayton York has been their 5th daughter for many years. And Tom McGaffey was also a very special member of their family. He was known as the older brother to the Harris children. Plus, numerous other children they helped out.

Letitia was known for her baking. She loved Christmas and she would bake her famous Christmas Rings that she would share with friends and family. One year she baked 50 Christmas Rings!! She also loved baking Cinnamon Rolls and Pecan Carmel Rolls. Plus, numerous kinds of Christmas candy and scones.

Letitia had 3 large gardens that she tended to and she would can fruits and vegetables for the winter. She also had beautiful flower gardens that she loved to share her flowers with loved ones.

Letitia and Charles enjoyed retirement! They were able to travel in their Southwind Motor home. They spent summers in Minnesota and winters in McAllen Texas. They were able to travel throughout the United States and into Canada. Many years they stayed at Round Bay Resort in Nevis Minnesota where they had a home. They loved fishing and going to the lodge and visit with many of their friends.

Letitia and Charles bought a home in Greenfield where they lived for 20 years. She loved caring for Charles and having Sunday night suppers where family would gather to enjoy her delicious meals. Her pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved having them over to frost dozens of Christmas cookies! She loved having the new babies come to their house and she would spoil each and every one of them!

Letitia was brought to the Lord many years ago when her brother- in- law Wayne led her to him. She was a devout Christian. She enjoyed many years of teaching Sunday School and Bible School. Letitia also led numerous Bible Study groups with her friends. Letitia led many to the Lord. Her heart burst with pride for each and every one of them!

In September of 2018 Letitia and Charles moved into the nursing home where she enjoyed caring for Charles and visiting with many of the nurses and CNA’s that cared for her. Two of her favorite cousins from Fontanelle worked there. Sarah and Claudia had a special place in her heart. She enjoyed the visits from Pastor Matthew from Greenfield Care Initiative Hospice. They had a special bond. He brought her great comfort. She also enjoyed going up to church when Pastor Melinda spoke. She always took her Bible and followed along with what Pastor Melinda was speaking on. She knew every hymn and enjoyed singing along!

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, a daughter Lori Jane Darling, a grandson Jesse James Porter and a granddaughter Crystal Mae Phillips. Her in-laws Charles and Dorothy Harris. Her brothers Morris and Ross, Brother- in- laws Wayne and Jack Harris, Ralph Meng and sister in law’s Shiley Meng, Beverly and Melva Harris and LaDonna Morgan.

She is survived by her children Joni, Julie and husband Eric, Dottie and sons Chuck and wife Denise, John and his wife Rhoda. Brother-in-law Robert Harris and wife Margurite and sister-in-law Mary Morgan. Grandchildren Lori Sue Shilling, Lennea Whitmer, April Carlson, Eric Evans, Ryan Phillips, Marissa Barrett, Tania Mc Andrew, Tarah Craft, Tyler Craft, Kim Ryan, Shari Rauer, Billie Ann Porter and Dillon Porter. Greatgrandchildren William Shilling, Aubrey Carns, Harlan and Huxley Evans, Jubilee Whitmer, Keaton, Quinton and Alston Mc Andrew, Sydney Ryan, Walker and Cameron Barrett, Ayzen Andablo, Alexsis Phillips. One great greatgrandchild, TreyVon Phillips. And numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
