Alice Laverne Lundy passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026, at the Stuart Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa. Alice was born on November 8, 1932, in Beaver Township, Guthrie County, Iowa, to Clarence and Jesse (Skellenger) Powell. She grew up in Menlo, Iowa, where she made lifelong memories and graduated from Menlo High School with the Class of 1952.

On June 1, 1952, Alice was united in marriage to the love of her life, Eldon Lee Lundy, at the Grove Center Methodist Church. Together they built a beautiful life centered around family, hard work, and community.

Alice was a woman of many talents and passions. As a dedicated homemaker, she poured love into her household. Her creative spirit shone through her passion for ceramics; she shared this talent by teaching classes and selling her beautiful creations right from her home. Alice also worked at the Kopper Kettle Restaurant and later at Petersen, Harned, Von Maur—a job that perfectly fueled her lifelong love for clothes, shoes, and all things shopping. She was always impeccably dressed and loved any excuse to dress up and go dancing.

At home, Alice could often be found working in her vibrant flower and vegetable gardens, meticulously cleaning, or relaxing on her sun porch. She possessed a keen eye for treasures and thoroughly enjoyed attending auctions and estate sales. Above all, Alice treasured her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought an immense amount of joy to her life.

Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eldon; her parents, Clarence and Jesse; her seven brothers, Glen, Clarence (CJ), Truman, Irwin, Kenneth, Robert, and Ralph; her two sisters, Evelyn (died in infancy) and Eileen Williams; and her son-in-law, Randy Thompson.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Vickie Thompson, and Lee Lundy and his wife, Cindy. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Tim Thompson and his wife Pam, along with their children Ben and Cami; Amy Thielking and her husband Ed, along with their children Cohen, Macklynn, and Maelynn; Elizabeth Thompson and her husband Garrett, who are expecting Alice's sixth great-grandchild; Jennifer Lundy and her fiancé James Cook; and Austin Lundy. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
