Funeral Services: Will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at the Steen Funeral Home in Massena at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in the Victoria Township Cemetery, south of Massena. A luncheon will be held at the Massena Legion/Lion’s Hall following the burial. Pastor James Hansen will officiate the service. The Steen Funeral Home in Massena is in charge of the professional arrangements. 

Visitation: The family will greet friends on Monday, September 6, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Massena. 

Memorials: Memorials may be directed to Arline Wiechman Memorial Fund to be established by the family. 

Arline Marie Wiechman, the daughter of Fred and Viola (Holste) Kerkman, was born in Victoria Township, Cass County Iowa on June 12, 1923. She passed away on Sept. 1, 2021.

Arline was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Massena, Iowa. She grew up on the farm where she was born and attended country school, Victoria #6. After country school she attended 2 years of high school in Massena and from there transferred to Corning where she earned her teaching certificate and graduated from Corning in 1940. She taught country school for 2 years at Victoria # 6 where she had attended as a child.

She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ where she helped with Sunday School and Youth Fellowship programs and was very active in the Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed embroidering, flower gardening, ceramics, playing pinochle, reading, neighborhood clubs and attending all the many activities of her children and grandchildren through the years. In the later years, she enjoyed keeping in touch with her children and grandchildren via computer.

Arline was a devoted ‘farmer’s wife’ living on the farm where she was born and spent most of her life - moving to Massena, IA in 2015 and to the Allen Place in Atlantic, IA in 2018. She was proud of having their farm recognized as a Century Farm and honored to be able to attend the award ceremony at the Iowa State Fair in 2017.

She is survived by her children: Jacqueline Ring and husband, Thomas of Elk Horn, IA, and William Wiechman and wife, Lynn of Clarinda, IA. Her grandchildren: Andy Ring and wife Kristi of Elk Horn, IA, Adam Wiechman and wife Jennifer of Shawnee, KS, Eric Wiechman and wife Jacklyn of Plymouth, MN and Dan Ring and wife Amanda of Minden, IA. She also has 9 great grandchildren: Carlin & Lane Ring, Sam, Sydney & Cecelia Wiechman, Riley & Logan Wiechman and Kallen & Raegan Ring; a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence Wiechman, brothers, Norval & Herbert, sister-in-law, Evelyn Hastings and her son, Richard Wiechman.
