Bob Garside

Bob C Garside, son of Marlyn & Vivian Garside was born May 10, 1947 in Des Moines.  He passed away on August 11, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 63.

Bob grew up in rural Bridgewater and attended Bridgewater-Fontanelle School and graduated in 1965.  On June 6, 1965, he was united in marriage to Ina J. Baudler at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.  To this union three children were born Clint, Chad and Annette.

Bob lived the last 43 years in Greenfield. Bob was a mischievous and loving husband, dad and grandpa. Family life was never boring. He was most happy with a hammer or tool in his hand. He had a talent for construction, mechanics, and fixing things. Helping his kids work on their various building projects was important to him. He especially liked fixing vehicle engines, a well-tuned engine was “music to his ears”. Coffee at the body shop was the highlight of his day. DEER and COYOTE hunting was his passion. He liked Ford trucks and collecting guns. He enjoyed watching football, car racing, the Outdoor Channel and reading western books.  Bob especially enjoyed having his grandchildren visit him, visits to grandpa included non-stop eating, card games and lots of tickling.

He is survived by his wife, Ina Garside of Greenfield; sons Clint and wife Sara Garside, Chad and wife Jennifer Garside all of Greenfield, daughter Annette and husband Steve Feick of rural Fontanelle.  Grandchildren Taylor and Colton Garside, Katelyn Garside,  Paul & Laura Feick. Parents Marlyn & Vivian Garside, sister Candy Erickson and husband Tim; other relatives and friends.
