Bruce Steele, 82, of Greenfield

Funeral Services: Will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church with a luncheon immediately following. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors. Pastor Melinda Stonebraker will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.

Open Visitation: Will be held at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family to be established at a later date.

Bruce William Steele passed away in his home on January 25, 2026. He was raised and lived on rural Adair County farm in which he spent most of his life heavily involved with Agriculture. He was born on March 1, 1943, in a rural farmhouse outside of Anita Iowa to Paul William and Ruby May (Peacock) Steele, then shortly thereafter moved to the farm he grew up on and lived his life. Bruce went to a one room schoolhouse in the Prussia center township until following up his education in Greenfield Iowa. He attended college at Ellsworth Community College from 1961 to 1963, Agriculture Science Degree and served in the Iowa Air National Guard,132nd Air Wing from 1964 to 1970. On March 6, 1976, he entered a marriage with Linda Hepler in which they had two sons, Kevin Paul Steele and Scott William Steele. This union produced a list of 7 grandchildren.

Bruce spent his life enjoying everything that came with farming in Iowa. He was a founding member of the Adair County Sheriff's Reserves, retiring in 2009 but continued to help with traffic control for several years later and spent 12 years on the Greenfield School Board He enjoyed spending time weighing in livestock for the Adair County Fair and keeping up with his grandchildren’s activities. Along with his coffee clubs that he attended regularly he also enjoyed driving a truck on the farm and keeping everything mowed up nice. He really lived the way he wanted to and enjoyed talking to everyone.

He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Ruby Steele.

He is survived by his two sons, Kevin Steele of Guttenberg, Iowa and Scott Steele of Casey; seven grandchildren; sister, Sue Ellen Argoe and husband Dimitri of Mt. Prospect, Illinois; other relatives and friends.
