Charlene Marie (Ruth) Baudler was born on January 4, 1936, to Clifford Clabe and Lorraine Emma (Mangels) Ruth in Stuart, Iowa, and went to heaven to be with her Lord and Saviour on March 27, 2024. She was baptized on March 29, 1936, and confirmed on May 28, 1950, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield. Her family moved to the Fontanelle area in 1942 where she attended Fontanelle country school at Summerset #3 and Summerset #8. She then attended Fontanelle High School graduating with the class of 1953.  After graduation, she worked in Des Moines for the Polk County Welfare office and then in Greenfield for the Adair County Welfare office.

On October 24, 1954, she was united in marriage to Earl John Baudler at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. To this union six children were born: Earlene Marie, Mickey Lee, Roxanne Kay, Craig Alan, John Cl. and Timothy Earl. They farmed their whole life in the Fontanelle area raising their family on a dairy farm where Charlene worked alongside Earl helping with milking and feeding many bottle calves. Charlene was a full-fledged homemaker, making strawberry jam and canning many vegetables from her large garden. In early years, she enjoyed oil painting family black & white photos. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing many of her children’s clothes as well. Her children could always count on a homemade chocolate cake or brownies every day as they arrived home from school off the bus. She took classes on cake decorating and proudly made her children’s and grandchildren’s Confirmation cakes. Her homemade noodles were always requested for family get-togethers, especially by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Charlene was an active member of her church singing in the choir, serving in the circles, and serving as a member of the Altar Guild. She was also a member of the country Busy Dozen Neighborhood Club.  In later years, she worked for the Adair County Farm Bureau, Nodaway Valley Middle School, and Country Blooms, retiring in 2006. She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, tending to her flowers and sending all kinds of cards to those needing prayers.

She is survived by her children: Earlene (Rollie) Purdy of Greenfield, Mick (Cindy) Baudler of Fontanelle, Roxanne (Jerry) Purdy of Adel, Craig (Lisa) Baudler of Fontanelle, John (Darla) Baudler of Fontanelle, and Timothy Baudler of West Hollywood, CA; grandchildren---Teresa (Chip) Boston of Van Meter & children, Gwen (Derek) Golwitzer of West Des Moines, Brooke (friend, Jake Parkhurst) of Casey, Sydney & Zachary of Van Meter; Bridget (Brent) Rauch of Thorton, CO & son, Beckett; Kathy Johnston & son, Lane Johnston of Earlham (friend, Brad Deling); Stacey (Josh) Howard of Winterset & daughters Taylor & Harmony; Lindsay (Allan) Miller of Iowa City; T.J.
