Funeral Service: Will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial will be at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019, at the Greenfield Cemetery. Pastor Cynthia Ripperger will officiate the service. The Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.   

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield. 

Memorials: May be directed to the Creola Blackwell memorial fund to be established by the family.

Creola Blackwell was born October 14, 1918, the daughter of Joe H. and Mary E. (Maas) Huddleson in Creston, Iowa. passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, at the age of 100.

Creola graduated from Zion High School and then attended college at Simpson in Indianola, Iowa. In 1938, she was united in marriage to Ralph Blackwell in Maryville, Missouri. To this union five children were born: Wayne, Joyce, Phyllis, Elaine and Sheryl. They lived in the Zion area. Ralph passed away in 1953.

Creola moved to Yuma, Arizona where she spent the last 50 years. She had worked for Yuma Territorial Prison Museum. She enjoyed reading, church, crosswords, traveling and especially loved her children and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph; son, Wayne; two sisters, Evelyn Smith and Mildred Hepker; and two brothers, Jack and Pete Huddleson.

She is survived by her four daughters, Joy Koenig and husband Stan of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Phyllis Blackwell of Yuma, Arizona, Elaine Gordon and husband Ron of Creston and Sheryl Roth and husband Brian of Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
