Donald “Don” Weber was born May 3, 1932, on a farm north of Cumberland in Cass County, Iowa, to Wesley H. Weber and Helen (Hopkins) Weber. He passed away on March 8, 2026. He grew up in the Wiota area and graduated from Wiota High School. On December 26, 1954, he married Marilyn June Cook of Atlantic, and together they built a life grounded in family, service, and strong Midwestern values for over seven decades.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He enlisted on October 14, 1952, and retired on October 31, 1972, earning the rank of Major after 20 years of service. After attending Officer Candidate School in 1959, he became a transport pilot flying the C-141 Starlifter and accumulated more than 5,000 flight hours during his distinguished military career. His service spanned the Cold War and included the eras of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
