Funeral Services: Will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m. with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial. Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements .

Open Visitation: Will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Memorials: May be directed to the Donna Grothen Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Donna Lee Grothen was born June 16, 1937, the daughter of Warren and Hazel (McGinnis) Flood in Adair County, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle, Iowa, at the age of 84.

Donna was raised and grew up in Stuart, Iowa. She graduated from Stuart High School in 1955. On February 26, 1961, she was united in marriage to Leo William Grothen in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. To this union three children were born: Myrna, Nancy and Frank.

Donna worked for Northwestern Bell in the accounting department for a few years and then she went to work at the Greenfield Community School as a cook and janitor until retirement in 2002. After her husband Bill passed away she moved to Murray to live with her daughter, Nancy before entering the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle. She enjoyed working on puzzles, playing cards, cooking, sewing, helping Nancy with school projects, pumpkin pies and blizzards from Dairy Queen and especially loved all of her four legged pets.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill in 2003; daughter, Mryna Marie Grothen; and sister, Phyllis Darlene Flood in infancy.

She is survived by her two children, Nancy Grothen of Murray; son, Frank Grothen of Greenfield; grand pets; other relatives and friends.
