Funeral Services: Will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield with burial at the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the committal services at the church. Pastor Eric Schubert will officiate the service. 

Open Visitation: Will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield. 

Memorials: To the Dee Cockburn memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Dorothy “Dee” Cockburn was born June 17, 1924, the daughter of Kenneth and Cora (Covey) Hotchkiss in South English, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 92.

Dee grew up in South English and graduated from South English High School in 1941. She then attended Capital City Commercial College and graduated in 1943. On March 3, 1944, she was united in marriage to Merle Cockburn in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Kathy, Bruce and Michael.

Dee and Merle owned and operated several bowling alleys through the years retiring in 1980. Dee enjoyed her family and always looked forward to her weekend trips to Missouri to visit with her daughter and family. She loved to sew, do craftwork, ceramics, enjoyed reading, flowers and bowling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merle in 1980; and brother, Jim Hotchkiss.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Scanlan and husband Mike of Savannah, Missouri, Bruce Cockburn and wife Penni of Yuma, Arizona and Mike Cockburn and wife Sara of Greenfield, Iowa; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
