Funeral Services: Will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following services at the cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Keith Schweitzerand Pastor John Rutz will officiate the service.   

Open Visitation: Will be held on Friday, December 9th, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. 

Memorials: May be directed to the Frieda Porter memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Frieda Amelia Henrietta Porter was born March 23, 1916, in Fontanelle, Iowa, the daughter of William and Elsie (Ehrenfried) Schroeder. She passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield at the age of 100.

Frieda grew up one and a half miles south of Fontanelle on a farm. She attended country school near Orient and Fontanelle. On April 16, 1938, she was united in marriage to Max E. Porter in Maryville, Missouri. To this union three children were born: Randall, Partricia and Becky.

Frieda was an Avon Representative for twenty-five years and a Newcomer Representative for several years in Greenfield. She lived in Greenfield the majority of her life. In 1995, she and Max moved to Creston to be near her family. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield, a Sunday school teacher, Care Center Devotional Leader and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, crafts, taking tour trips, being with her friends and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max E. Porter; son, Randall Porter; son-in-law, Derald Barkalow; infant granddaughter, Kimberly Barkalow and brother, Fritz Schroeder.

She is survived by her two daughters, Pat Barkalow and Becky Hagen and husband Jim all of Creston; ten grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren with more on the way; other relatives and friends.
