Helen Ann (Coughlin) Morrison passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Helen was born on August 18, 1922, in Cumberland, Iowa, to Charles and Verna (Neary) Coughlin. She was raised with strong values of faith, hard work, and family—qualities that remained the foundation of her life.

On February 12, 1946, Helen married the love of her life, Robert Morrison. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with six children: Sandi, Jim, Greg, Angie, Monie, and Jeanie. Their home was one filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family.

Helen’s greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her family and took great pride in watching generations grow. Her kindness, gentle spirit, wisdom, and unconditional love touched everyone who knew her.

Helen was honored to serve as the Queen of the Wiota Sesquicentennial Celebration, a recognition she treasured. She also had a lifelong passion for gardening and found great joy in tending her garden and canning the fruits and vegetables she lovingly grew each season. An avid sports fan Helen rarely missed cheering on her beloved Iowa Hawkeyes, Creighton Blue Jays, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and she proudly supported them through every season.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Verna Coughlin; her siblings, Virgil Coughlin, Veronica Coughlin, Mary Morrison, John “Pat” Coughlin, Regina Clarke, Thomas Coughlin, Margaret Lewis, Robert Coughlin, and Geraldine Shields; her beloved husband of 39 years, Robert Morrison; her daughter, Monie Murray; and her son-in-law, Bob Larson.

Helen leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children, Sandi, Jim (Suzi), Greg (Sue), Angie, and Jeanie; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Morris Shields; along with many extended family members, dear friends, and neighbors whose lives were blessed by knowing her.

Although our hearts are deeply saddened by her passing, we are grateful for the incredible gift of 103 years filled with love, strength, and unforgettable memories. We find comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those she loved who went before her. Her legacy will live on through the generations she nurtured and the countless lives she touched.

Helen will be remembered for her unwavering love, quiet strength, generous heart, and the example she set of a life well lived. She leaves behind a legacy rooted in faith, family, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

A special thank you to Care Initiatives Hospice, Mike & Vicki Morrison, John & Conni Curry, Abbie Brahms, Danyel Foreman and the Massena Community for the care that they gave our mom.
