Janice Laughery

Private Family Services will be held.  The Steen Funeral Home of Fontanelle is in charge of professional arrangements. 

There Will Be No Public Visitation.

Janice Loretta Laughery was born November 30, 1933, the daughter of Harold and Ernesda (Jensen) Foresman in Guthrie County, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021, at her home in Fontanelle, Iowa, at the age of 87.

Janice was raised on a farm near Guthrie Center and attended Bear Grove Country School and graduated from Guthrie Center High School with the class of 1951. On December 9, 1951, she was united in marriage to Melvin Laughery in Guthrie Center, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Connie, Doug, Judy and Kathy. They farmed in the Guthrie Center area before moving to a farm in the Avondale area in 1969. Melvin and Janice later moved into Fontanelle.

Janice enjoyed gardening, quilting, baking-especially buttermilk cookies, attending grandkids events, finding a bargain at garage sales, card playing, keeping farm records and was blessed with 2 sets of twin great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin in 2013; two granddaughters, Kelly Laughery and Jean Benton; and two sisters, Lorene Shroyer and Karen Livesay.

She is survived by her four children, Connie Tews (John) of Guthrie Center, Doug Laughery of Greenfield, Judy Sorensen (Jeff) of Topeka, Kansas and Kathy Thompson (Tom) of Fontanelle; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brother-in-law, Lyle Laughery (Carol) of Guthrie Center; other relatives and friends.
