Jay Zimmerline, 59, of Fontanelle and Greenfield

Jay Lavern Zimmerline was born September 28, 1962, the son of Alwin and Mildred (Knorr) Zimmerline in Atlantic, Iowa. He died on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at the age of 59.

Jay was raised in Fontanelle, Iowa and graduated from Bridgewater-Fontanelle Community School in 1981 and then went on to Southwestern Community College to earn his degree in Automotive mechanics. He was married to Andra Wages and they raised their children in Fontanelle and they later divorced.

Jay was a heavy equipment operator for 38 years and for the last 5 years has worked for Rognes, Inc. in Des Moines, Iowa. He enjoyed mule trail riding, his Harleys, coyote hunting, having drinks with his friends and family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Junior Zimmerline and Jeffrey in infancy; and daughter, Jyl Zimmerline.

He is survived by his four children, Jaysa Tucker (Michael) of Greenfield, Jessica Daluz of Greenfield, Jeena Modrell (Jacob) of Brayton, Iowa and Jesse Zimmerline of Greenfield; thirteen grandchildren, Jozette, Stone, Tony, Adam, Preston, Kaitlynn, Jayce, Karter, Oliver, Curtis, Mariah, Trysten and Oakley; three brothers, Jimmy Zimmerline (Janet) of Stuart, Jerry Zimmerline (Mara) of Fontanelle and Jack Zimmerline (Donna) of Greenfield; significant other, Annette DeGraw for the last 7 1/2 years; other relatives and friends.
