Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle.  If you are unable to attend the live service, you may watch live online at this link:  https://tinyurl.com/jn1230a.  The link will become live at 10:45am Central Time on December 30, 2021. Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. 

Luncheon and fellowship with the family: Will be held at the church immediately following the service. 

Memorials: To Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. 

Vera Joanne Nottingham was born July 8, 1930, the daughter of Clifford and Florence Lorain (Safely) Derry in Jeffeson, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 91.

Joanne was raised in rural Guthrie County. She was united in marriage to Leo Marckmann on May 6, 1946. To this union four children were born: Robert, Linda, Wanda and Joan. They raised their family in rural Adair, Iowa.

Joanne had many jobs and she excelled in all of them! She loved to work. She enjoyed quilting, dancing, playing cards and she also sewed a lot of clothes. She enjoyed presenting herself in an attractive way! On July 21, 1994, she was united in marriage to Bruce Nottingham. They lived in Jefferson, Iowa and in 2010 she moved to Greenfield to be near her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Rex Thompson; and both husbands, Leo Marckmann in 2006 and Bruce Nottingham in 2011; brother, Bill Derry; and two sisters, Beverly Sand and Ruth Middleton.

She is survived by her son, Robert Marckmann of West Des Moines; three daughters, Linda (Gary) Thompson of Stuart, Wanda Johnson (Dennis) of Fontanelle and Joan Burnett (Craig) of Leawood, Kansas; six grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Barb Krambeer of Lake View, Iowa; special friend, Jim Murphy; other relatives and friends.

The family of Joanne Nottingham wishes to express their gratitude for all acts of kindness shown to them in their time of sorrow and invites you to join them for a luncheon at the church immediately following the services at the church.
