Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle with burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery. Pastor Kyle Fever will officiate the service. A luncheon will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle following the burial. The Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle is in charge of the professional arrangements. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.
Open Visitation: Will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Memorials: To the Joe Buckner Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
Joseph Leon Buckner was born December 25, 1971, the son of Larry Leon and Wanda Marie (Wyllie) Buckner in Atlantic, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at his home in Adair, Iowa, at the age of 53.
Joe grew up in Adair and was baptized on March 31, 1971 and later confirmed on August 24, 1986. He graduated from Adair-Casey High School in 1990. He worked many jobs including, fence building, worked at Rose Acres Farms, hung drywall in schools and houses for POA Incorporated, poured concrete and set steel girders for Betts and Beer Construction, applied siding to houses, installed windows, shingled roofs, buildings and garages for Buckner Construction and most recently worked at Cardinal Glass. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, was a Philadelphia Eagles fan and especially loved Dale Earnhardt and following Nascar racing. Joe had a special bond with his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Leon Buckner; grandparents, Leon and Margaret Buckner and Bertha Wyllie; uncles, Max, Terry and Cecil Buckner; aunts, Beth Barlow and Patty Ingel; and cousin, Michael Eggert.
He is survived by his mother, Wanda Buckner of Adair; brother, Rick Buckner (Julie Fredregill) of Adair; two sisters, Tammy Zimmerline (Jim) of Adair and Lynette Carney (Randy) of Adair; his dog, Bella; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family of Joe Buckner wishes to express heartfelt thanks to all for the many kindnesses shown to them and invites you to join them for lunch at the Lamb Funeral Home after the committal service at the cemetery.
