Celebration of Life and Eastern Star Services: Will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the services. Pastor Ben Carter-Allen will officiate the service.  O.E.S. Chapter 91 is conducting the Eastern Star Service.

Masonic Services: Will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield.  The Greenfield Crusade Lodge No. 386 A.F. & A.M. is conducting the Masonic Services.

Open Visitation: Friends may call on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the United Methodist in Greenfield. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening, September 18, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Greenfield. 

Memorials: May be directed to the John Bruns memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

John Joseph Bruns was born on August 9, 1962, the son of Joseph Louis and Janice (Pierce) Bruns in Waterloo, Iowa. He passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at his home in rural Greenfield, Iowa, at the age of 57.

John grew up in Cresco, Iowa and graduated from Crestwood High School. He was united in marriage to Pamela McGinnis on September 18, 1993, in the Hebron United Methodist Church, rural Greenfield, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born: Rachel and Brenna.

John was a CNA/Janitor and had most recently worked for Nodaway Valley Community School District. He enjoyed fishing, cars and being with his family. He was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church, Greenfield Crusade Lodge No. 386 A.F. & A.M. and the O.E.S. Chapter 91 in Greenfield.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Bruns; grandparents,  Louis and Cecilia Bruns and Al and Anna Pierce; nephew, Chris Bruns; and brother-in-law, Jim Melver.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Bruns of Greenfield; three daughters, Faith (Paris) Clark of Florida, Rachel (friend Chase Jensen) Bruns of Greenfield and Brenna (friend Sebastian Morton) Bruns of Greenfield; two granddaughters, Serenity and Anaiyah Clark; mother, Jan Bruns of Cresco, Iowa; three brothers, Jeff Bruns of Cresco, Iowa, Jay (Karen) Bruns of Elma, Iowa and Paul (Tina Sauter) Bruns of Cresco, Iowa; two sisters, Jody Melver of Sumner, Iowa and Allison (Merlin) Balik of Cresco, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
