John David Christensen “Homeboy” was born on August 30, 1974, the son of James Lester and Kathryn Mary (Miller) in Corning, Iowa. He passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at his home at the age of 51.
John grew up on a farm north of Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1993. After high school he went to work for the Coop in Greenfield for a few years. In 1995 he was united in marriage to Kara. In 1996, they welcomed their daughter, Erika to the world and in 1999 they welcomed their son, Jesse.
In 1997 he went to work for Schildberg Construction at the I80 quarry, running the scale house and loader. In 2007, he went to work for the 21st Century Coop in Fontanelle where he managed the feed mill. In 2009, his son, Zayden, was born into the arms of angels. In 2013, he was united in marriage to Ami. In 2018, they opened their home and their hearts to his Godchildren, Christina, Ryan and Mason Wilson.
John was a homebody and loved when his family came over to the house. Kids, whether it be family or friends, always had the biggest spot in his heart and they always took to him fast. We think it may have been because he acted like a kid himself. Through the years he's had a few dogs (and a few other animals) that were a major spot in his heart, Max, Molly and “Bubba” Maverick which he loved dearly. He was a big gardener, canner, enjoyed going fishing and on 4-wheeler or lawn mower rides especially with his dogs or any of the kids.
He was preceded in death by his son, Zayden Christensen.
He is survived by his daughter, Erika Christensen (Ryan Wood) of Fontanelle; son, Jesse Christensen (Dakota Weesner) of Creston; parents, Jim and Kathy Christensen of Greenfield; siblings, Danelle Cooney (Sean) of Greenfield, Mandy Dolan (Mike) of Greenfield, Jason Christensen (Beth) of Fontanelle, Justin Christensen of Greenfield; Josh Christensen (Juree) of Greenfield and Brandi Henley of Winterset; godchildren, Christina (Brandon) and their daughter, Ivy Grace, Ryan and Mason Wilson; and many other relatives and friends.
