Memorials: To the John McFarland memorial fund to be established by the family.

John Thomas McFarland was born February 25, 1957 in Des Moines to Delores (Beer) and John Thomas McFarland Sr. He passed away at Iowa Luthern Hospital in Des Moines on October 24, 2019. He spent his early childhood in Des Moines before moving to Stuart.

John raised his boys in Greenfield, Iowa with Melody McFarland. He loved teaching them how to fish, taking them camping and how to play pool. John was a hard worker and spent many years at Cardinal Glass in Greenfield, and Farleys in Creston. Anybody that knew John, knows how much he cared about the people he loved. Even in sickness he never wanted to talk about himself, only how your day was. John enjoyed watching tv. You could catch him during the day watching his favorite soaps, and in the evening cheering on the Chicago Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Iowa State Cyclones. John enjoyed visits from his two grandkids, Gracyn and Chase, always having a box of fruit snacks and popsicles on hand. Johns quick witty humor and infectious smile will be missed by all who knew him.

Greeting him in Heaven were his parents, brothers Christopher and Kevin.

Left to cherish his memories are his two sons, Lance (Makayla) McFarland of Fontanelle and Steven (Amber) McFarland of Greenfield; special friend, Melody McFarland of Greenfield; two grandchildren; four brothers, Kenny (Ellen) McFarland of Redfield, Craig (Kim) McFarland of Stuart, Tom (Kerry) McFarland of Stuart and Jeff (Cindi) McFarland of West Des Moines; other relatives and many friends.
