Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Trinity Christian Church in Bridgewater at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following the service. Burial will be in the Witt Cemetery, south of Bridgewater following the luncheon. The Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle is in charge of the professional arrangements. Family Visitation: The family will greet friends at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to the services.
Memorials: May be made to the John Sullivan Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
John Allen Sullivan was born on the family farm in Bridgewater, Iowa, on November 17, 1945, the son of Euclid and Junua (Hansen) Sullivan. He passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 78.
John attended country school, Bridgewater Elementary and Fontanelle High School. He continued his higher education at N.W.M.S.U. where he received a BS in agriculture. Upon graduation from college he enlisted in the Army Reserves, went to work as a district territory manager for Super Sweet Feeds and farmed full time. He later began working for NIS Investments while still farming. John retired in late 2020, but continued to visit the farm everyday to perform light maintenance and repairs.
John married Merline and together they raised two children, Todd and Jodee. He was a member of the Trinity Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Washburn; and brother, Euclid Sullivan, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Merline Sullivan; son, Todd Sullivan and wife Lisa of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter, JoDee Nelson and husband Dave of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four grandchildren, Evan Floyd, Morgan Floyd, Grant Nelson and Erin Narvaez; three great grandchildren; sister, Janet McDermott (Doug) of Jefferson, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
