Mass of the Resurrection: Will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Greenfield with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. Father Ken Gross will officiate the service. A luncheon will follow the burial at the church.

Visitation: Will be held on Monday, September 2nd from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield with the family greeting friends from 3 to 5 p.m. 

Scripture Service: Will be held on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield. 

Memorials: To the Joseph Boes memorial fund to be established by the family at a later date. 

Joseph Michael Boes was born May 25, 1959, in Carroll, Iowa, the son of Cyril and Elsie (Sanders) Boes. He passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at his home in Fontanelle, Iowa, at the age of 54.

Joseph grew up in Carroll until 1970, when the family moved to Fontanelle, He graduated from Bridgewater-Fontanelle High School in 1978. He was a carpenter, operating his own business, building farm and utility buildings for several years in the area. His work was meticulous. Joe's hobbies included fishing, hunting, playing cards, and watching car races (especially drag races). After his health failed, Joe enjoyed skyping with his family on his computer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cyril Boes; his grandparents, John and Elisabeth Sanders and Joe and Appolonia Boes; and brother-in-law, Dean Feld.

He is survived by his mother, Elsie Boes of Fontanelle; brothers and sisters, Glen Boes and wife Marsha of Escondido, California, Carol Ricke and husband Larry of Parkersburg, Leroy Boes and wife Dee of Carroll, Allen Boes and wife Barb of Clive, Lynette Feld of Carroll, Steve Boes and wife Helen of Winfield, Illinois, Jim Boes and wife Lynn of Adel, Barb Merryman and husband Neil of Urbandale, Jack Boes and wife Becky of Fontanelle, Mary Downing and husband Rick of Denver, Colorado, and Lisa Sullivan and husband Todd of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
