Joseph Burg, 61, of Bridgewater

Mass of Christian Burial: Will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Massena with burial in the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Massena.  Father Phillip Bempong will officiate the service.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.  The Lamb Funeral Home of Massena is in charge of professional arrangements.

Open Visitation:  Will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Massena on Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Family Visitation:  The family will greet friends on Sunday, August 21, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Massena.

Memorials:  Memorials may be directed to the Joseph Burg Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.

Joseph Allen Burg was born July 31, 1961 to Leo Burg and Ruth (Hein) Burg in Greenfield, Iowa. He was raised in Massena and graduated from C&M High School in 1979. He was a farmer for most of his life and enjoyed working at Lake Anita State Park for past the few years. Joe passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 61.

Joe will be remembered for being a friendly guy who could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was always willing to help those that were in need. He enjoyed carrying around M&M’s for all the kids he would see and was known as the “candy guy.” He was a dedicated Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and spending time with his loved ones.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ruth Burg; sister LaDonna; brothers David and Gary; brothers-in-law Bill Yearington and Terry Daughtery; niece Heather Yearington and great niece Tru Yearington.

Joe is survived by his children Crystal Lunsford of San Antonio, Joseph Burg and wife Mary of Bridgewater, and Angela Burg of Boone. Surviving siblings include Georgia Yearington of Osceola, Charles Burg and wife Connie of Atlantic, Diana Daughtery of Massena, Michael Burg of Pella, Debra Nichols and husband Wayne of Atlantic. He has 5 grandchildren; Dominique, Velvet, Autumn, Lily and Everleigh and 2 great grandchildren; Charlotte and Emilia and nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
