Joyce Herr, 78, of Fontanelle

Funeral Services:  Will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m. with burial in the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial.  Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service.  The Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle is in charge of the professional arrangements.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.

Open Visitation:  Will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Family Visitation:  The family will receive friends at the Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Memorials:  Memorials will be directed to Joyce Herr Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.

   Joyce Marie Herr was born July 17, 1943, second daughter to William and Opal (Heyn) Herr in Prussia Township, Fontanelle, Iowa.  She passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle, Iowa, at the age of 78.

   Joyce was raised on her parent's farm in Prussia Township and went to school at Prussia school house #5 until 8th grade. Joyce then continued on to Fontanelle High School and graduated in 1961.  After High School she worked as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle for over 35 years. While Joyce did love to travel to anywhere in the United States to visit her precious nieces and nephews, California to visit her uncle or even just to the Iowa State Fair to camp for a week, her home and life was spent in the Fontanelle area.

   She was an active member of the Cumberland Rose Players for many years and an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church singing in the choir and mentoring confirmation students. Joyce had a very big heart for those in need and would go out of her way to help if she was able. During her years of working in the nursing home she learned giving her time was the best gift she could give.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Karen Herr; and great great nephew, Zeke Marinosky.

   She is survived by her two brothers, Marlan Herr and wife Thelda (Susie) of Fontanelle and Pastor Noel Herr and wife Betty of Madison, Minnesota; sister, Janice Blanchard of Aurora, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
