Kathryn Wolfe “Cookie” was born on December 20, 1939, in a small house in Stuart, Iowa. She was the Fourth of seven children born to Gerald and Thelma Maline.
Kathryn grew up on an acreage just west of her birthplace, where she spent much of her childhood outdoors helping her father with chores. She especially enjoyed going with him on Saturday mornings to clean the hog houses with her sister Mary. After school and during the summers, she could often be found working alongside her family in the garden.
As a young girl, Kathryn taught Sunday School at the Christion Church. She and her sisters, Mary, Phyllis and Geraldine often sang for church services and community events. Around this time, Kathryn was baptized into the Christian faith, a decision that shaped the rest of her life.
Kathryn graduated from Stuart High School in 1959. She married Joe Lamb of Greenfield, and to this union two children were born, John and Laura. They later divorced and in 1963, Kathryn married Norman Wolfe of Stuart. Together they had three daughters, Becky, Debbie and Diane.
When all five children were in school, Kathryn began working at the Stuart Community Care Center, where she dedicated 22 years of service before retiring. She later worked at the Stuart skating rink for several years.
Kathryn loved family gatherings and cherished time spent reminiscing about the “good old days.” She and her sisters often sang a song they made up while doing chores as children, bringing laughter and memories to those around them. She enjoyed gardening and took pride in growing a variety of flowers each year. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life and always held a very special place in her heart.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Thelma Maline, brother Bud Maline, Sisters, Barbara Buttler, Phyllis Borlin and Patricia Saxton and granddaughter Sarah Johnson.
She is survived by her children, John Wolfe (Chris), Laura Little (Steve), Becky Dorsey, Debbie Miller (Mike) and Diane Shope (Phil); 17 Grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren, Sisters, Mary Ludwig and Geraldine Kading and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
