Katherine (Kay) Dougherty, 57, of Massena

Katherine Barry Dougherty of Massena, Iowa and formerly of Brooklyn, New York passed away peacefully on October 18, 2023. She was the youngest daughter of Donald and Margaret Dougherty. Donald and Margaret met in Germany while they were on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces. Donald was born and raised in Massena.

Katherine grew up in Northern California where her Dad served as an inspector for the U.S.D.A. Katherine’s Mom was a social worker.

Katherine graduated from California State Dominguez Hills, with her bachelor’s degree and worked in the music industry, for charitable non-profits, and in the field of social work. She loved to travel the world and had visited many countries including Ireland, India, and Peru. She was especially proud of her Irish heritage and her Massena family roots. 

She was preceded in death by her mother and father. She is survived by her sister Anne Crowell, her brother-in-law Steve Crowell, her three nieces, Mary Crowell, Jennifer Crowell, and Catherine Crowell of Stafford, Virginia.

Her surviving Massena family members are Nancy Cullen, Charlotte Groves, Bill and Bob Langfelt, and Coni Curry.

Graveside Services:  Will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Massena.  Father Phillip Bempong will officiate the service.  The Lamb Funeral Home in Massena is in charge of the professional arrangements.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.
