Larry "Zoomer" Westphal, 70, of Fontanelle

Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery.  Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service.  A luncheon will be held at the church in Fontanelle following the burial.  The Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle is in charge of the professional arrangements.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com. 

Open Visitation:  Will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Family Visitation:  The family will greet friends on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the Lamb Funeral Home in Fontanelle from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Memorials:  May be directed to the Fontanelle Fire Department. 

Larry “Zoomer” Westphal passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his home.

Lawrence Dean Westphal, better known to his family and friends as Zoomer, was born on March 31, 1954 in Greenfield, Iowa to Eugene and Maria (Narizzano) Westphal. Farming was his entire life-he started driving tractors at the age of four, and farmed through Adair county until his last breath. As if farming multiple locations and livestock wasn’t enough to keep him busy, Zoomer had a passion for tractor pulling. He was a fierce competitor winning many awards. His many trophies and plaques dominate his mother‘s beautiful bookcases, probably not what Maria had in mind when she designed the home.

He wasn’t known to mince, shall we say colorful words often…however, this big guy had an even bigger heart. His family and friends knew they could call on him anytime. For such a gruff guy, he melted with kids. Although he had no children of his own, many felt his love.

Zoomer was preceded in death by his parents and his special buddy- ”Bud” Lucas Sweeney.

Left to cherish his memory, his sister, Mary(Ron) Rink of Burlington, Iowa, his niece Crystal (Derek) Moss, and their three children Brynn, Rowen, and Samuel, all of Wever, Iowa, other relatives and many many friends.
