Funeral Services: Will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016, at 1:30 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield with burial at the Greenfield Cemetery. Mr. Phil Price will officiate the service. A luncheon will be held at the Orient Plymouth Congregational Church following the committal services at the cemetery.   

Open Visitation: Will be held at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield on Sunday, November 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield. 

Memorials: To the family discretion or the Orient Plymouth Congregational Church. 

Lucille Verlee Lundy daughter of Harlan Clair and Hazel Etta (Foster) Vandewater in Union Township, Adair County, Iowa, at the age of 85.

   On November 5, 1948, she was secretly united in marriage to Virgil Keith Lundy in Seneca, Kansas.  She went on to graduate from Orient High School in May of 1949.  She then told her classmates she was married.

   Virgil and Lucille had two sons, Keith Clair (born 1951) and Phillip Danial (born 1954).  She farmed side by side with Virgil northeast of Orient.  After Virgil’s death the son’s farmed until 1980.  Lucille worked at the Greenfield Manor Nursing Home over two years.  Then she worked at Bunn-O-Matic over 16 years, retiring in 1995.  In 1994, she moved to Orient and volunteered at the Orient meal site.

   She loved embroidering quilts for her family.  She made baby quilts and gave to organizations.  She was known for her angel food cakes and candy.  

   She is survived by her two sons, Keith Lundy and friend Nicki of Clarinda and Phillip Lundy and wife Connie of Orient; three grandchildren, Arika Brindley and husband Jeff, Jared Lundy and wife Gayla, and Keith Virgil Lundy and wife Lisa; six great grandchildren, Justin Brindley, Lily Brindley, Addie Lundy, Cara Lundy, Haileigh Lundy and Paden Lundy; step granddaughters, Karla Williams and husband Mike and Kris Larsen and husband Greg; several step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren; brother, Earl Vandewater of Orient; sister-in-law, Doris Drake and husband Robert of Creston; special friends, Donna McDonald and Angie McDonald; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Virgil in October of 1975; sisters and husbands, Eva and Cecil Clark and Ethel and Glen Capps; infant brother, Willard; sister-in-law, Colleen Vandewater; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Charles Prescott; mother and father-in-law, Ferne and Dan Lundy; nieces, Gayle Drake and Shirley Sevier; and nephew, Eldon Vandewater.
