Funeral Services: Will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with private burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery. Pastor Tim Hummel will officiate the service. Refreshments will be held at the church immediately following the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.
Open Visitation: Will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Memorials: To the Margaret Marckmann Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.
Margaret Jennie (Meisenheimer) Marckmann was born April 4, 1933, to Frederick W & Agnes (Miller) Meisenheimer on the farm in Summerset Township in Adair County, Iowa. She passed away on February 26, 2026, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation & Health Center, at the age of 92.
Margaret graduated from Greenfield High School in 1951. She married Don Elam in 1955. After he passed away, she was united in marriage to Delmar Marckmann on September 6, 1969. They resided on their farm in Richland Township until December 1998 when they moved to Lee Township. She worked at the county welfare office, Greenfield Creamery & Locker, and for Dr A J Gantz. She retired after working 35 years for the public. Margaret worked alongside Delmar on the farm. Margaret was truly thankful for the opportunity to care for three special girls, Alyse, Rachel & Susan.
Margaret was baptized and confirmed at St John's Catholic Church in Greenfield, Iowa. She became a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle where she volunteered to help whenever she was needed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Don Elam & Delmar Marckmann, brothers Leo & James Meisenheimer, brothers-in-law Stan Newbury, Dean Ahnen & Val Gray, and sisters-in-law Treva Meisenheimer & Sharon Marckmann.
She is survived by her sister Lucille Newbury; sisters-in-law Shirley Meisenheimer of Greenfield, IA, Mardelle Ahnen of Norwalk, IA, Delores Gray of Fort Collins, CO, and Marjorie Lauer (David) of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law Marlin Marckmann of Greenfield; many cherished nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
