Funeral Services: Will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fontanelle United Methodist Church with burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery. Pastors Cathy Nutting will officiate the service. A luncheon will be held at the church following the committal services at the cemetery.  

Open Visitation: Will be held on Wednesday, March 5th, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

Family Visitation:  The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening, March 5th, at the Steen Funeral Home in Greenfield from 6 to 8 p.m. 

Memorials: To the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Fontanelle United Methodist Church. 

Marguerite Weltha Eblen was born February 2, 1925, the daughter of Jesse E. and Elpha Mae (Pope) Rogers on her family's farmstead in Adair County, Iowa. She passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Community Care Center in Stuart, Iowa, at the age of 89.

Marguerite grew up in the Fontanelle area and attended school in Fontanelle. On July 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to Hobart E. Eblen in Fontanelle, Iowa. To this union two children were born: Margene and David. She lived her entire life in Adair County and was devoted to her family farm which became a Century Farm in 2012. Marge worked at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield as a nurse’s aide for 25 plus years and later worked at the Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle, retiring in 2000.

Marguerite enjoyed gardening and especially loved her grandchildren. She was a member of the Fontanelle United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the ladies circle’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hobart Eblen in 1973; grandson, Todd D. Eblen; son-in-law, Terry L. McDermott; brother, Johnny J. Rogers; and sister, Dorothy Rogers.

She is survived by her daughter, Margene McDermott of Omaha, Nebraska; son, David Eblen and wife Jacqueline of Greenfield; five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
