Marvin Metzger, 87, of Bridgewater

Mass of Christian Burial: Will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Massena with burial in the Massena Center Cemetery.  A Luncheon will be at the church following the burial.  The Lamb Funeral Home in Massena is in charge of the professional arrangements.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lambfuneralhomes.com.

Visitation:  Will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the church one hour prior to service.

Memorials:  May be directed to the Marvin Metzger Memorial Fund to be established by the family at a later date.

Marvin Eugene Metzger was born on August 14, 1936, in Jackson Township, Adair County, Iowa, the son of Roy and Irene (Kordick) Metzger.  He passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at the Greenfield Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Greenfield.  

Marvin grew up and lived his entire life in Adair County.  He farmed with his father with horses until the 70’s.  Marvin was a handyman, carpenter and was always willing to help a neighbor in need.  He enjoyed photography, telling stories and especially enjoyed going to help his friend Gene Van Vleet with his outfitter hunting expeditions in Wyoming.  He entered the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle in 2014 and later moved to the Greenfield Manor in 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Joseph and Rose Kordick and John and Matilda Metzger; and LaDonna Burg.

He is survived by his cousins and many friends.
