Celebration of Life Services: Private family services will be held at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield with full military honors conducted by the Greenfield American Legion Head-Endres Post No. 265 & V.F.W. Max Eugene Nicoletto was born on January 23rd, 1943 in Albia, Iowa, the son of Clyde William and Gertrude Viola (Barnes) Nicoletto. He passed away on June 18, 2026 at Adair Co. Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, Iowa at the age of 83.

Max grew up in Albia graduating from Albia High School in 1961. He entered the Army in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1971. Max was united in marriage to Janice Pirnat in 1968 and they were blessed with 58 years together. To this union three children were born: Dianne, Anthony and Teresa. He obtained a Bachelor's degree from William Penn College with a major in economics and a minor in history. Max worked as a manufacturing supervisor for many years. He lived most of his life in Albia, later moving to Ottumwa, Iowa and most recently Greenfield, Iowa.

Max enjoyed cooking, gardening, bird watching, restoring Fiat cars, watching documentaries and above all else spending time with his family.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother in-law, Tony and Gladys (Stocker) Pirnat, an infant brother, stepmother, Delores Friedman, sister, Claudia Forgy and his beloved dog, Abby.

He is survived by his children, Dianne (Terry) Petersen, Anthony (Charlene) Nicoletto and Teresa (Mike) Martin. Four grandchildren, Spencer (Payton) Peterson, Noah Peterson, Zach (Andrea Grundon) Peterson, Sara Petersen and a great-grandchild due in December. His sister, Margaret McCartney, brother, Bill (Cindy) Bagley and other relatives and friends.

Max will be remembered at a private family service with military honors. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Midwest or AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport in honor of his special furry friends, Callie and Gemma. A special thank you to the staff at Adair Co. Memorial Hospital and Hospice of the Midwest for the excellent care Max received.
