Funeral Services: Will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery. Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial.  

Open Visitaiton: Will be held at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle on Monday, June 30th, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m at the church. 

Memorials: Memorials may be directed to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Mildred Ilene Jacobson, daughter of Frederick Heinrick and Marjorie Leola (Dilley) Miller was born on November 6, 1932, in Fontanelle, Iowa. She passed away on June 26th, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Center in Fontanelle, Iowa at the age of 81.

Mildred attended school in Fontanelle and graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1950. Upon graduation, she worked for Adair County in Greenfield, Iowa.

On February 23, 1952, Mildred was united in marriage to Leo Gene Jacobson at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. To this union four children were born:

Ronald, Robert, Barbara and Brenda.

In 1953, Mildred and Leo moved to the farm south of Fontanelle where they farmed and raised their family. Mildred was a Sunday school teacher for many years at Emmanuel Lutheran, active in service with the women of the church, and for several years served on the Altar Guild. Mildred and Leo were active members of the Fontanelle Lions Club and enjoyed serving the community at various events and activities. Mildred also enjoyed sewing many creations for her grandchildren, who were always a source of special joy.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Leo, son Ronald, son-in-law Dennis Cullinan, sister Madeline Strom, brother-in-laws Max Jacobson, Louie Strom and Bill Sandholm, and her parents.

She is survived by her children, Robert Jacobson and wife, Tracy of Fontanelle, Iowa, Barbara Cullinan of Ankeny, Iowa and Brenda Daniels and husband Steve of Cedar Falls, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren: Michelle Bennett and husband Alan of Solon, Iowa, Melanie Gross of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Melissa Hodapp and husband Cory of Iowa City, Iowa, Kris Riley and husband, Dave of Urbandale, Iowa, Andy Jacobson and wife, Nicole of Osceola, Iowa, Eric Jacobson and wife, Meredith of Ankeny, Iowa, Zach Jacobson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cody Jacobson of Fontanelle, Iowa, Shannon Peek of Marion, Iowa, Casey Cullinan of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Chad Cullinan of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mollie Strouse and husband, Brad of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Amy Allbaugh and husband Dan of Urbandale, Iowa and Jeff Daniels of St. Louis, Missouri, sixteen great grandchildren: Kayla Sproul, Raleigh Bennett, Mackenzie, Colton and Courtney Gross, Olivia Hodapp, Drew, Macy, Ben, and Allie Jacobson, Nathan and Jack Riley, Sam and Lily Peek, Clara and Luke Strouse; one sister, Eleanor Sandholm of Greenfield, Iowa, brother-in law Raymond Jacobson and wife Marilyn of Fontanelle, Iowa, sister-in-law Phyllis Jacobson of Greenfield, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
