Norma Finck, 90, of Greenfield

Celebration of Life Services:  Will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle with burial in the Fontanelle Cemetery.  A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial. Pastor Steven Broers will officiate the service.   The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements.

Norma Arlene Jacobson was born January 3, 1934, to Lawrence and Ruby A. (Russell) Jacobson. She passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the age of 90.

Norma grew up with 3 brothers and 1 sister, attending rural country schools, and graduated from Menlo High School in 1952.

She was united in marriage to Dale LeRoy Finck on November 14, 1951. To this union, three children were born: Jim, Gary and Sherri. 

After graduation, Norma worked as a bookkeeper at numerous local businesses. She retired from her job of many years at Schildberg’s car dealership in 1996. She also served as bookkeeper for her husband’s business in her spare time.

Norma’s volunteer work included being a Boy Scout Den Mother when her boys were young and served as Secretary/Treasurer for the Adair County Reserves from 1977-2004.

Dale and Norma enjoyed dancing at various locations around southwest Iowa for many, many years. They also loved to camp in the many campgrounds around the area. In addition to dancing and camping, Norma enjoyed gardening, sewing, playing cards and games, spending time with her grandchildren, and always baking pies for Dale! She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle, and the Greenfield Quilters’ Guild. She and Dale were married for over 65 years.

After retirement, Norma opened a quilting business so she could spend time doing what she loved - quilting. She continued with her business until her eyesight limited most activities.

Norma is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Wayne; sister-in-law Carla Jacobson; sister-in-law Deloris Jacobson; sister-in-law Madeline Finck; brother-in-law Arlan Jacobsen; sister-in-law Irene Jacobsen; brothers-in-law Don Williams and Roy Wright; and niece Bonnie Jacobsen.

She is survived by her children: Jim Finck (Marla) of Greenfield, Gary Finck (Joanie) of Greenfield, Sherri Lund of Greenfield, brothers Earl and Larry (Evelyn) Jacobson of Menlo; and sister Bev Wright of Greenfield; sister-in-law Shirley Williams; brother-in-law Dean Finck; Grandchildren Dustin Finck (Jodi Baudler) of Greenfield, Jerid Lund (Danielle) of Orient, Jesse Lund (Michelle) of Greenfield, Nathan Holmes (Polly) of Greenfield, Amber Lund (Ross Steeve) of Greenfield; 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
