Ray Michael Sorensen was born April 4, 1930 to Laura (Nielson) and Michael Ray Sorensen. He passed away from his earthly life on October 15, 2019. He was born in Cumberland and grew up in the Anita area with his siblings: Charlie, Rayner, Lillie, Harold, Albert, Doris, Donald, and Lawrence.

On September 4, 1950 he married Eileen Marckmann. They just celebrated their 69th anniversary. They had three children: Jerry, Michael, and Lori. They lived most of their lives on the family farm south of Fontanelle, farming and raising livestock, especially Hereford cattle, which he had well into his later years. He also spent many years working on the Adair County Road Crew.

Ray loved the farm, his Hereford cattle, helping his kids with 4-H, and most of all spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He spent a lot of time at the Adair County and Iowa State Fairs and was "Uncle Ray" or "Papa Ray" to many beyond his own family.

Those passing on before him were his parents, siblings, and his granddaughter, Allisha Candee.

Those who are here cherishing memories are his wife, Eileen Sorensen. His kids, Jerry (Mary) Sorensen, Mike (Dixie) Sorensen, and Lori (Kent) Candee. His grandchildren are Heidi (Matt) Rohrig, J.W. (Megan) Sorensen, Ray "Bubba" (Maria) Sorensen, Justin (Kendra) Sorensen, Mandi (Brian) Eisbach, Angie (Nick) Schmidt, Joshua (Colleen) Candee, Zachary (Lynde) Candee, Sethian Candee, and Gaberial Candee. His great-grandchildren are Tucker, Taylor, & Treva Rohrig, Theron, Austin Hersom, & Everly Sorensen, Independence & Michael Sorensen, Devin & Kennedy Carlon, Isabelle & Maxwell Eisbach, and Quinn & Ryker Schmidt.

Ray's family thanks everyone for the prayers and many acts of kindness.
