Ronald Lee "Ron" Reed, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, in Columbia, Missouri, just two days shy of his 78th birthday. Born on July 11, 1947, in Redfield, Iowa, the son of Vernon Leel and Frances Elizabeth (Parker) Reed, who preceded him in death. Ron was married to Christine Lynn (Smith) Reed. Ron lived a life marked by joy, humor, service, and a deep love for family, friends, and the outdoors.
After graduating from Dexfield High School in 1965, Ron proudly served in the United States Army. He was honored to serve his country, and the discipline and dedication he learned during his military years remained with him throughout his life.
Following his time in the Army, Ron began a lifelong career in agriculture as a seed sales representative. He worked with several companies until his retirement and was known for his deep knowledge of the industry and the genuine relationships he built with farmers across the region.
Ron was known for his outgoing personality and ornery sense of humor—he never met a stranger and always brought laughter wherever he went. He had a wide circle of friends and a gift for storytelling that made every gathering unforgettable.
A passionate outdoorsman, Ron loved fishing in Canada for Walleye and Northern Pike, a tradition he kept up every year. He and his wife, Christine, enjoyed traveling together—taking cruises before discovering their love for all-inclusive trips to Mexico. One of his proudest moments was taking his entire family on their first trip out of the country to experience Mexico together.
When not fishing or traveling, Ron could be found on the beach with a toddy in hand, soaking up the sun. But his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren. A hands-on grandpa, he loved taking them for treats and rides on the golf cart, always looking for ways to make them laugh and feel loved.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Christine; two daughters, Misty (TJ) Carlson of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Kim (Bryan) Howes of Fontanelle, Iowa; three sisters, Caroline Morgan, Connie Mylan, and Cindy Scaglione; and three beloved grandchildren, Hanna Carlson (Nathan), Jax Carlson, and Bryanna Howes (Devin).
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Randy Reed.
Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
