Celebration of Life Services: Will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Christian Church in Bridgewater. A luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church. Burial will follow the luncheon in the Greenwood Cemetery in Cumberland.  

Visitation: The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to services on Tuesday. 

Memorials: To the Cumberland Library or to the Cumberland Fire Department. 

Marion Ruth Denham, daughter of Charles and Gladys (Logue) Byers was born May 20, 1927, in Cumberland, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Griswold Care Center in Griswold, Iowa, at the age of 87.

Ruth lived her entire life in Cumberland. She graduated from Cumberland High School in 1944. On December 29, 1946, she was united in marriage to Wayne Denham in Cumberland. To this union one son, Doug was born.

Ruth worked at her sister Helen’s grocery store in Cumberland for a few years and later worked in the kitchen at the school in Cumberland. She took great pride in helping her husband Wayne build and refinish furniture. She enjoyed visiting with people, going places, shopping, decorating her home and really loved the family reunion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne Denham in 2006; two sisters, Helen Denham and Joan Cornell; brothers-in-law, Ray Denham, Myron Denham and Dale Cornell and nephew, Tim Denham.

She is survived by her son, Doug Denham and wife Kathy of Ankeny; grandchildren, Shaila Leuschen and husband Joe of Panama, Iowa, Chris Denham and wife Wendi of Des Moines and Katie Hansen and husband Josh of Granger, Iowa; great grandchildren, Bailey Kuhl, Lauren Leuschen, Cale and Case Hansen; nieces and nephews, Kathy and Francis Cullen of Cumberland, Debbie and Fred Wohlenhaus of Council Bluffs and Tom and Janet Denham of Elkhorn, Nebraska; and a host of great nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
