Ted Wayne Kinyon was born in Polk County, Iowa, on September 26, 1948. He was adopted by Gertrude (Havens) and Wayne Kinyon in 1949. He passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at the Caring Acres Nursing and Rehab Center in Anita, Iowa, at the age of 77.
Ted went to Greenfield High School and graduated twice from Southwestern Community College in Creston. In 1968, he was united in marriage to Marsha Bates. To this union two children were born: Bentley and Dawn. Ted worked at various jobs around Greenfield: Apco, Burger Plumbing and Heating, Feeders Service, Greenfield Coop, Bert Donnellan, Elliott Sawmill and the Adair County Landfill for twenty-one years. He was always willing to help other people. Ted and his friend Ben Lyons started doing demolition derby and did that for many years. Ted lost his best friend Dick Cooper and he was devastated. In 1995, they moved to their dream place in Greenfield where they raised cows for a few years. Ted’s health started to fail in 2023 when he entered the nursing home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gene Leroy in infancy and mother and father-in-law, Earl and Arlene Bates.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marsha Kinyon of Greenfield; son, Bentley Kinyon of Creston; daughter, Dawn Woolheater of Creston; three grandchildren, Jacob, Daniel and Matt Kinyon; great granddaughter, Emory; other relatives and friends.
