Zena Lyman

Zena Lyman passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012, at her home in Greenfield, Iowa.

Graveside Memorial Services: Will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview Cemetery south of Stuart.  

Family Visitation: Will be held on Sunday, November 4 th, at the Fairview Church, rural Stuart from 5 to 8 p.m.

Memorials: To the Zena Lyman memorial fund to be established by the family.

Zena A Lyman, 48, the third of three children, was born June 28, 1964 to Hayden (Dean) and Adah (Ernestine ) Smith Low at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, Iowa. She passed away October 26, 2012 at her home in Greenfield, Iowa due to lung, bone and brain cancer.

She grew to adulthood north of Greenfield, near Howe Corner, on a farm with her parents, two sisters and a brother.

Zena’s education consisted of attending the Greenfield School System. After graduating from school, in the fall of November 24, 1984, she married Johny Parrott in a double wedding ceremony with her best friend Brenda (Thompson) and John Clayton. To this marriage one child Emma was born. She turned her attentions to working at the Good Samaritan Center nursing home in Fontanelle and then later at the Greenfield Manor.

She first lived in Fontanelle for a while before moving to Greenfield. After moving, she lived with John Lyman and to this union one child James (J.D.) was born, later marrying John on September 20, 2006. She then turned her work career to working at Cardinal IG, where she worked up until the time she was diagnosised with stage 4 lung, bone and brain cancer in July of 2012.

She had many hobbies to name a few were making afghans, blankets, needle work, but the main things she liked was being a member of the Humane Society of the United States and just being with friends she loved and doing what she could for them.

She was preceded in death by her father Hayden (Dean) Low; grandparents, Hayden Percy and Rachel Low, Doyce and Loretta Smith and her favorite aunt Ardeth Lawson, which she now is now enjoying all of her aunts cinnamon rolls.

To mourn her passing she leaves behind her caregiver, John Lyman; children, Emma Akers and husband Derrick John and J. D. Lyman; two grandchildren, Sheridan Parrott and Collin Akers; canine companions, Babe and Champ; feline companion, Mollie, all of Greenfield; mother, Ernestine Low of rural Stuart; two sisters, Lena Nelson and husband Jerry of Greenfield and Deanna Enderson and husband Paul of Redfield; one brother, Kenneth Low and wife Angie of rural Stuart; an uncle, aunts, many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
